Wow, what a hectic month! VW Expo, European Bug-In, London Volksfest and, of course, Bug Jam 22... I've almost spent more time camped out with team Ultra in poorly-equipped fields across Europe this month than I have at home with my family, and boy am I ever feeling the strain. Sure, we could always book hotels and loan a few vehicles to transport equipment and people to such events, but that's just not our style! EBI (and Bug Jam etc) saw my trusty T4 Westy loaded with all the trade equipment and four dedicated, UVW team members (every Ultra VW team member is a true enthusiast) ready for an awesome road trip and a weekend of camping, bbq's and, of course, plenty of VW-related action! Sure, it's great fun, but it's also very hard work. We may not always present the biggest and boldest trade stand at every VW event, but should you stop by for a chat, you'll always be greeted by a helpful smile from a true enthusiast. I try to spend as much time 'on the front line' (ie manning the tradestand!) as possible answering technical queries and promoting the mag - and even if I've been dragged away to judge the show and shine or to check out a potential feature car, you'll always find a helpful, friendly and VW-smart staffer on hand to help out. Plus, at both EBI and Bug Jam we were joined by Nick, Alex, Naomi and various members of the Flatlanders VW Club, who were happy to display the Jagerbug racecar (as featured in the past 8 issues!), and to discuss their plans for the future. In short, there's almost always a wealth of information, assistance and enthusiasm around the UVW trade stand from dawn til dusk at just about every major UK & European VW event on the calendar! Right, that's all for now - I'm still grubby and tired following a manic Bug Jam weekend and I need to freshen up! Congratulations to the show and shine winners picked by team Ultra... with more than 120 top class vehicles on display, it was a tough task to pick the cream of the crop! Paul Knight | ||
